Some of these shows about building bikes are ridicules. Shiny clean shops, guys who don’t know TIG welder from a acetylene torch. To top it off how can you do a build with beer and pizza? No way, I call bullshit. The first rule of any serious athletic endeavor is stay hydrated. How you suppose to do that without at least a sixpack?

If you’re serious about your riding skills you’ve got to have the attitude of a fined tuned athlete. Working out, getting plenty of rest and watching your diet. Diet is probably the most important thing, it’s just like what you put in your bikes tank. You don’t put the cheap stuff in there if you care about how your scooter runs. You’ve got to put only the finest things in your bodies fuel tank. So let’s stay away from those quick stop hot roller dogs. A quality burger or pizza and a good locally brewed ale is just the ticket. Training begins now!
Ya ever notice how many signs and instructions that are pasted everywhere. I don’t know how I’d make it thru the day if I had to stop and read all the crap that I get presented with. Life should be simple. You shouldn’t have to read and understand everything before you experience it. Just take life as it comes. If the beer is warm well then, drink it. If you don’t like it warm, don’t drink it. Find what works for you. If all your buds ride bar hopping nancy bikes and you ride a totally righteous bobber well then . . . well I guess it’s time to find new riding buds. Just as long as it works for you.
Is it true that beer at room temperature tastes better than cold beer. Or is it only the darker beers taste better that way. Now I’m a fan the the dark brews. If I had my choice I’d rather drink a porter or a stout than just about anything else. And from what I understand they really should be served warmer that your typical light ale or lager. But I could be wrong, they might taste better if they were served at Betty’s butt temperature.
There’s been a rash of diets and health food fads it seems of late. Special foods that cleanse the body as well as the soul. I say we stick with the tried and true. Nothing wrong with a diet of beer, burgers and pizza. If it makes you feel any better then go ahead and go with whole wheat buns and that fancy new micro brew beer. I’m pretty sure it won’t kill you. Now the pizza is another matter. I recommend sticking with either standard New York style thin crust or a nice Chicago deep dish. Other than that it just isn’t good to fool with the proven success.
Happy Saint Paddy’s Day, hope you’re all wearing your green. Drink lots of green beer, ok lots of any color beer and celebrate the warmth and long days ahead which means more riding and longer rides. See ya on the blacktop.
It’s that time of year when we need to honor those nobel Germans for their contribution to the greater good of mankind. Not only did they give us the airhead and her magnificent jugs that stand so proudly in the wind but more importantly they gave us Oktoberfest. It’s time to find a good fall celebration and tip a stein, mug, glass, bottle or can in honor of that greatest of traditions. Drinking beer. And if you can’t find a celebration. Make one.
The right tool for the job. And looking at the all the catalogs and advertisements for specialty tools these days they make a tool for everything. Or should I say they make MANY tools for any job. And if you’re like most guys you can’t have too many tools. As one of those old guys said a long time ago “Give me a lever long enough and I’ll move something really big.” I think he was one of those guys building the pyramids or something. Today we just say “give me a hammer big enough and I’ll break everything to pieces and then let’s go drink some beer.”
They say it’s the clothes that make the man. And in certain times and places that might be the case. When you’re riding that’s not the time or place. All that shiny leather and an American flag dew rag don’t make you a biker. If you want to be a biker quit spending money on all the fashion statements and spend your hard earned cash on gas and tires. Save a little for those burger joints on the road. I’m not talking Mickey D’s either. You’ll know which burger joint to stop at. It’s the one you can get a cold beer at also.
It’s friday. Time to start the weekend and the best way to do that is with a good cold beer. And remember to drink responsibly. Oh yeah, remember to eat too.
